Background
Demi is a big black-haired girl. With her birthday falling at the end of November, she’s like the best parts of a Sagittarius and Capricorn combined in one dog. However you look at it, Demi is a great furry companion. She is mature, stable, friendly, well-behaved, and feels a sense of responsibility for her home and family. All these characteristics combined make her the perfect dog!
Personality
Demi is like a big, friendly, warm doll, with big paws. She loves being pet by others, and will crawl into your warm embrace when she wants to be pet! Typically cool and calm, the moment you try to play with her, she will get excited and become your joyful playmate. Demi gets along well with cats, dogs, and children. Even when she encounters a rude dog, she knows to warn them first and will not bite. During general physical examinations (teeth, ears, mouth), she cooperates calmly. Demi is simply a gentle, big dog with a loving personality.

Behavioral Observations
Demi is calm, stable, and not overly enthusiastic. She is the ideal dog for families with plenty of room for big dogs or who can frequently take her out for exercise. Demi is most relaxed when she is playing. At other times, she is calm and accommodating. Her tail typically droops, and she doesn’t have a distinctive way of showing when she’s happy or relaxed. However, after playing with Demi, she’ll beam at you with a huge smile.
Medical History
All of PACK's dogs are vaccinated annually, dewormed monthly and receive flea and tick medication quarterly. Every dog is spayed/neutered upon arrival at PACK HQ.

Tolerance Levels
At PACK Academy, we socialize our dogs by exposing them to different stimuli and recording their tolerance levels for each one. These observations help us understand the dogs better, which then helps us find suitable homes for them.
Strangers
Demi is friendly to strangers, as long as they first get acquainted through some simple gestures.
Dogs
Curious and friendly towards other dogs, but will issue a warning to dogs that are rude.
Cats
Cats won’t excite Demi. She keeps her cool and just walks away.
Kids
Friendly towards kids, might go over and sniff them in passing.
Noise
Startled by noises, but won’t display extreme physical reactions.
Touch
Strangers need to get acquainted with Demi first before petting. As for familiar folk, she simply loves to be cuddled.
Behavior Observations
There are some common behavior issues that we see in dogs who have spent a significant amount of time in a shelter. We assess our dogs for these behaviors and provide training plans for adopters to help manage them.
Barking
At home, Demi will sometimes react towards outside noises, but will stop when ordered.

None. A good girl, Demi waits patiently for you at home, without damaging the house.

Not aggressive at all towards people. Will warn rude dogs but won’t attack.

Has not displayed resource guarding.

Chewing
So far, Demi has not chewed on furniture at home, but make sure she has enough exercise to consume her energy.
Obedience Training
Obedience training is critical for nurturing healthy dog-human relationships and having a well-behaving dog. Our dogs receive basic training at PACK Academy, which provides a foundation for communication between dog and human.
